This Verse-Eau (“water pourer” in French) is used as a single server to add water and sugar to your absinthe. The piece is placed on the rim of the glass and a sugar cube (or cubes) is placed on the round tray below. Ice cold water is then poured inside the cone shaped reservoir. With a small hole in the bottom of the cone, the water begins to pour onto the sugar cube(s) below, allowing the water to dissolve the sugar and fall into the glass of absinthe.

When using a Verse-Eau, the water is not intended to be added all at once, but in increments. This is typically done by using a carafe. As with any other way water is added to an absinthe (with sugar or without), water should be added in small portions, allowing the preparer to pause and taste the mixture, then decide when enough water/sugar has been added. Although the typical ratio is 1-part absinthe to 3 – 5 parts water, the absinthe should be made to your own liking. If the drink is too strong, just add more water.

The wire legs can be carefully bent to accommodate a variety of glass sizes.

    Add water slowly

Adds water rapidly so it needs to be added in small increments.
